Health for Life Counseling

The front desk people are always away from the phone or just completely gone so there's no way to get help. I've called so many times it never goes through and when I'm in office there's a sign saying they're on holiday leave when its well after the holidays. Also this place claims heavily that they are trauma based/informed and specialize in trauma based care. However, my therapist did not seem experienced at all. In my screening call I explicitly said that I did not need talk therapy, I was very aware of my emotions and trauma focused work/nervous system regulation is what I need, which they confirmed they were capable of handling. They then proceeded for multiple sessions do client-led talk therapy. They kept asking how I was feeling and what I thought about everything when I thought that was very clear from the start. Didn't have very organized sessions with clear plans, sessions were based on my feelings that day or current events, and never closed my sessions on a good note to make sure I left feeling safe or stable after opening up. Couldn't call a receptionist to switch therapists within the practice because they rarely answer the phone and as someone with trauma it didn't feel safe to confront my therapist directly and tell them I needed to see someone else because they weren't what I needed. I go to therapy to receive help and not guide my therapist on how to provide a service to me. Really disappointed that I have to start over again. This might be more helpful for people who need base level help, just being diagnosed with depression/anxiety and can't identify their emotions and need grounding/coping/reflection techniques. This was not helpful for complex trauma and individuals who are very aware. However, the people I did speak to were nice people outside of the whole therapy thing.

Obviously broken or understaffed. Called because I'm needing talk therapy for a very recent. And not only is the automated system broken, but faulty... First, the female voice 'instructs' you to dial '0" for immediate assistance or operator. But when you do, gives you an automated "we're sorry, but...." response. So you tap the extension for the on-call person, to get THE SAME error response. Either they ARE understaffed and not admitting it on the web page, considering the 5 stars are outdated reviews, or the place simply isn't operating period, in this healthcare and mental health crisis.

I've been doing virtual therapy with Kay for 5 years. We're currently doing EMDR therapy for a phobia I have. She has helped me SO much over the years through my divorce, break ups, family issues, sex help, and now digging into my trauma. I wish I could prescribe Kay to everyone I know because a therapy session with her is the best money I spend each week. HIGHLY RECOMMEND Health for Life Counseling :)

I am extremely upset right now. I saw a therapist here for only one session at the beginning of the year who decided after our one session ( and me being on her waiting list for months) that she wasnt a good fit. This is after billing my insurance and having me fill out a bunch of paperwork. Fast forward to now, when I try to see another therapist at this office. Apparently I have been "black listed" and am not allowed to see anyone else here. I am not sure what exactly I did but better communication would be appreciated. Just because one therapist doesnt like me shouldn't be a reason to ban me from seeing others.

My son has been going to Health for Life for several months and it’s been a very positive experience for him! After seeing how wonderful the staff is, I was inspired to start getting therapy here as well. I cannot recommend Health for Life enough! Also special shout out to Claire at the front desk, she is incredibly kind, thoughtful, and good at her job! She matched me with the perfect therapist and I’m so grateful.
